New 10-Year Study On Early Detection Of Heart Disease Launched
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) has launched a 10-year, multicenter study to find new ways of detecting heart disease early, before it produces symptoms. The $68 million Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA) will involve six centers, which will recruit 6,500 participants aged 45 to 84. Half of the participants will be men and half women. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has developed a Web site for displaying photographs and/or illustrations of breast implant complications. While the website is not intended to be photographic representation of all breast implant complications, the FDA plans to continue to add photographs and/or illustrations of complications associated with saline-filled and silicone gel-filled implants as they become available.
